Crane Junior Electrical Automation Engineer

MISSION To ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all container handling equipment (QC, MHC, RTG) through expert supervision, proactive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The primary objective is to maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency, providing uninterrupted support to the terminal's production goals.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OR ACTIVITIES

• Maintenance Management & Planning

Monitor the execution of planned works according to priorities and equipment availability.Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and in compliance with DP World global engineering policies and local standards.To ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of QC, MHC, and RTG cranes through the effective execution of electrical and automation maintenance, troubleshooting, and support activities.To maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency by performing quality electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and timely responses to breakdowns, thereby supporting the smooth and uninterrupted operation of the container terminal.To perform all electrical work with strict adherence to HSSE protocols, ensuring personal safety and contributing to a safe working environment for all team members.To provide technical electrical support to the maintenance team and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives under the guidance of supervisors.Assist the team in planning and executing all maintenance activities (PM, PCM, CM, EM) using the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) whenever required.Help develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all QC, MHC, and RTG cranes.2. Technical Expertise & Engineering Support Provide 24/7 support for crane control systems, including PLCs, Drives, and troubleshooting complex electrical faults.Program, maintain, and create backups for equipment control units (e.g., HMI, PCs, lasers, BMU, Operator Panels).Perform calibrations (e.g., load cells, sensors) and troubleshoot software and hardware defects.Working inside different shifts with technicians and reporting to shift leader.Working by hand on site on equipment solving BDNs, Faults and doing PMs as required on the different equipment under cranes section.Research and recommend new technologies and methods to improve efficiency and reliability.Analyze the root causes of system problems using RCA, Kaizen, and A3 methodologies.3. Team Support & Development Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and new comer engineers.Assist in the internal training of technical staff to enhance their skills in electrical or mechanical disciplines.4. Safety & Compliance (HSSE) Fully comply with and promote all DP World HSSE policies and Departmental SOPs and Ensure that all team members understand and apply all relevant HSSE and Engineering SOPs. .5. Performance Monitoring & KPIs Monitor crane performance and reliability to help achieve department KPIs (e.g., Availability, MTBF, MTTR).Investigate repeated breakdowns (BDNs) and assist in deploying resources to eliminate them.Work closely with the reliability team to resolve recurring faults through structured problem-solving.6. Continuous Improvement & Lean Culture Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes and equipment performance.Work closely with the LEAN department, applying Kaizens and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.Liaise with the reliability team to help implement preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance techniques.7. Resource & Procurement Support Assist in managing maintenance resources, including spare parts, tools, and equipment.Provide technical specifications for part purchases to ensure compliance with existing equipment.8. Reporting, Documentation & Collaboration Perform daily reporting of work completed and project updates.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and CMMS data.Report immediately to his manager any incident or abnormality affecting equipment safety or causing extended downtime. QUALIFICATIONS ET EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field.Specific experience in port container handling equipment (STS, RTG, MHC) or similar heavy industrial equipment.Proven proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.Control Systems: Extensive hands-on experience with PLC systems (e.g., ABB AC500/AC800, Siemens S7) and Drive Systems (e.g., ABB ACS/ACS800, Siemens Simotion/Master Drives).Automation Components: In-depth experience with HMIs, industrial networks, sensors, and other control system components.Software & Diagnostics: Proficiency in using diagnostic software, programming tools, and a solid…
